Graduating from Rhode Island School of design in 1954, Michigan-born Lane began his career as Art Director at the prestigious US Vogue in New York. Giving him a taste of the fashion world, he quickly discovered a passion to create and began designing shoe collections for the likes of Christian Dior and Delman. It was during the embellishment process of these shoe collections that Lane started to play with jewels and rhinestones and it wasn't long until his jewellery creations were being hunted down in the boutiques of Manhattan. And from stores to stylists, his pieces were soon spotted on fashion icons on the global stage, from Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Onassis to Nicole Kidman and Madonna. An enthusiastic innovator with a keen imagination, Kenneth Jay Lane went on to collaborate with the exclusive New York designer, Jardin Jewelry in 2009, creating a signature collection, CZ by Kenneth Jay Lane. The collection is underpinned by his use of cubic zirconia (CZ) combined with top quality craftsmanship, fashion-forward designs and timeless style to create meticulously hand-cut collection, aspirational designs and affordable luxury artistry for every woman to enjoy.
