Irish-born milliner Philip Treacy started making hats as a hobby to match the outfits he designed at Dublin’s National College of Art & Design. Soon after, he moved to London to earn his MA at the Royal College of Art. There he began to throw himself more into the design of couture hats, creating collections for designer legends such as Donna Karan, Chanel, and Ralph Lauren. These pieces earned him British Accessory Designer of the Year on several occasions and led to being awarded Order of the British Empire for services to the Royal Family, namely his design of the Duchess of Cornwall’s bridal headdress. Ever growing in esteem and popularity, Philip Treacy’s hats have appeared in multiple Harry Potter films, as well as on several celebrities, including Lady Gaga, and can be found in dozens of luxury shops and stockists around the world.
